| SVDSS demands implementation of Katra master plan | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 24: Sri Vaishnovi Dham Sudhar Samiti (SVDSS) expressed gratitude to the chief minister Omar Abdullah’s seriousness with regard to Katra master plan. Addressing a media person here today SVDSS, president Ajay Singh said during the last two decades no action has been taken to implement the Katra master plan. He said the holy town has been deprived of various development plans and as a result town is confronting with number of problems and the concern authorities are non-serious about the development. He said day to day number of pilgrims is on rise, but no attention is being paid to mitigate their problems. He said every year large number of devotees from other countries also pay visit to the holy cave and as such steps should be taken to develop an airport for direct flights with international facilities. He also said that present bus stand be shifted, as land for the same has already nearly 327 kanals have already acquired. Singh said that the government without wasting further, time implement Katra master plan at an earliest and ignore those who play negative role in implementing the master plan. He further said that the main reason for congestion in the Katra town is the heavy rush of vehicles particularly the transport vehicles coming from the different parts of the country. It is submitted that the existing bus stand is located just at the heart of Katra town and that too in a very small place. The problem of congestion is aggravating from bad to worse due to the increasing number of pilgrims day by day. Without solving the problem of congestion, no development of Katra town can be done in the real sense, they added.
