| AMANDEEP MURDER CASE | | Warrants against Nagar Singh, 2 FSL officials spill more beans | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 24: On third day of marathon questioning session with suspended police officials and other witnesses, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing evidence tampering in Amandeep murder case, today achieved a significant breakthrough as a Forensic Science Laboratory expert is reported to have admitted being witness to fudging of the weapon of offence. Meanwhile, the SIT has issued warrants against leading businessman and builder Choudhary Nagar Singh, the father of accused Raja who has been arrested for broad-day light murder of Amandeep Singh, son of an ex-legislator. The SIT had earlier made repeated attempts to secure presence of Nagar Singh before it for questioning but he has been evading since. When a Police team last time visited Nagar Singh’s residence, they were told by the family that he is away in Mumbai. As a first step to secure his presence for questioning, the SIT today issued a formal notice which was delivered at Nagar Singh’s Gandhi Nagar residence late this evening. He has been asked to present himself before the SIT at 10 AM on September 25 (tomorrow). While the SIT headed by SP Ramban Mubashir Latiefi continued the day long grilling session in presence of all members, DIG Jammu-Kathua Range Farooq Khan stayed put at the SIT office for almost entire day. Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, Ashok Gupta too visited the SIT office and personally monitored questioning of FSL officials. Even as the SIT members continued to be tight lipped over the latest developments, sources said that two of the four FSL officials questioned on Wednesday were today arrested for further questioning and corroboration of evidence. Based on the inputs from reliable sources the Early Times had cautiously reported on Wednesday about the possibility of FSL officials having admitted to the weapon change sequence. This information was today further substantiated by the sources. Questioning of one Sarwar Bukhari, a ballistic expert of the Forensic Science Laboratory was inconclusive late tonight, another FSL official Raj Singh was also taken into custody at Domana Police Station after his sustained questioning. He is reported to have become a witness while it could not be immediately known whether the SIT has made him an approver or just a witness to the weapon fudging case.
