| DRC discusses SFRI working | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar September 25-A meeting of Departmental Related Committee (DRC) was held under the Chairmanship of MLC, Mr. Mohammad Rashid Qureshi here today. The meeting was attended by the legislators including Mr. Altaf Ahmad Wani and senior officers of Council Secretariat.
The meeting discussed threadbare various activities of Forest, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, Transport, Industries and Ladakh Affairs departments.
The Chairman directed the officers of Council Secretariat to sought information with regard to working Status of Forest Research Institute (FRI) and steps taken for making the FRI at par with Forest Institute Dehradun, State Forest policy, Persons engaged on need based and daily wages from 2002-2008, steps taken for protection of Forests and Wildlife species, machinery and manpower of the department, latest technology and steps taken to minimize man-animal conflict and supply position and extraction of timber and procedure being adopted for allotment of extraction of timber and revenue generated from export of timber, so that the threadbare discussion would be held on the issues in the next meeting. The committee decided that the next meeting would be convened with the functionaries of the departments on October 12, 2009.
