| Pak militant gets life term for planting bomb in a Matador | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 25- The 3rd Additional Sessions Judge Jammu RS Jain today awarded life-imprisonment to Snaullah son of Ashik Hussain, a Pak militant, who was facing trial for planting a bomb in a matador on July 16, 1994 in Simbal camp area resulting into the death of seven persons and injuries to 16 others. After hearing Additional Public Prosecutor Gulzar Singh Charak appearing for the state and Advocate Anil Bargotra amicus-curiae for the accused and accused present under custody, the Additional Sessions Judge observed that the accused Snaullah has made the confessional statement voluntarily and of his own free will out of sheer repentance for the acts committed by him. In fact accused could have very well kept silent regarding the criminal acts done by him and escaped the punishment for his acts; however, he chose to confess his guilt. In the view of facts of case and looking his voluntary confessional statement the accused is sentenced to undergo imprisonment for life r/w section 3 PSSA for planting and exploding the bomb in the matador wherein some passengers were killed and others were injured.
