Jammu, Sept 25: The department of students welfare, University of Jammu organized ‘Alumni Meet’ of all such ex-students of the University, who have been on the Students Cultural Council as Secretaries and Joint Secretaries or have excelled in the “Display Your Talent” & other Inter University, Zonal, National and International Youth Festivals and Competitions. Prof. R.P.S. Sehgal, Dean Academic Affairs, was the Chief Guest on this occasion.
The programme included an Exhibition of Fine-Arts and Cultural presentations, followed by an interactive session for improvement of the Cultural and Literary Activities of the Campus.
The Cartoons by the Alumni Manoj Chopra, Paintings by Suman Gupta and Sonia Bharti Anand and Posters by Advocate Sheikh Nasir Hussain Were highly appreciated. The performances by Poonam Handa, Reeta Rani, Mukti Talwar, Chanchal Sharma, Jasmeet Kour, Priya Raina and Digvijay Singh received thunderous applause. The Alumni and the Faculty Members, Officers and Staff who remained associated with the Department of Students Welfare since its establishment were felicitated on this occasion.
The welcome address was delivered by Prof. J.S. Tara, Dean Students Welfare. He spoke at length the concept of having arranged an Alumni Meet and added that this is opportunity to convey through this platform that this Department do recall the services being rendred by those who have been associated with this Department.
The Alumni framed an adhoc boday consiting of Digvijy Singh as president, Surinder Singh Bunty, Virender Singh and Dr. Anuradha Pandoh Sharma as Vice Presidents, Manoj Chopra and Sheikh Nasir Hussain as General Secretaries, Zulafkar Ahamed, DR. Aksa, Mahesh Khajuria, Rajesh Bakshi, Mahinder Pal Singh, Amita Malhotra, Pradyot Gupta and Nitish Arora as Joint Secretaries.
Among others present were Prof. VEd Ghai, Prof Zahur-ud-Din, Dr. R.L. Sharma, Prof. N.R. Bharma, Prof. N.K. Tripathi, Prof. Dhian & Bhau, Director, Physical Education, Dr. A.S. Jasrotia, Dr. Shailendra Singh.
