| Govt committed to the upliftment of the weaker sections: Slathia | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 27 -Minister for Industries and Commerce, Mr Surjeet Singh Slathia addressing a mammoth public meeting at Trait Basti Bari-Brahamna said that government is committed to upliftment of weaker sections of the society and is also fully aware of their day to day problems like drinking water, road connectivity, uninterrupted supply of power and construction of lanes and drains. He directed the R&B agencies to renovate the road of the colony and also directed PDD authorities for augmentation of two power stations of the area by augmentation of these from 100 KVS to 250 KVS and also emphasized for conversion of LT from single phase to three phase, replacement old and worn out conductors and shifting of LT lying above the residential houses. It was informed in the meeting that the work has already been taken up for the augmentation of the power stations on the directions of Minister. The Minister said that a tubewell will be commissioned by 10th of October, 2009 so that proper water supplies can be ensured in the adjoining areas. He further said under dynamitic leadership Chief Minister, Mr Omar Abdullah coalition government has done a wonderful job during the brief period of 9 months. He impressed upon the officers to redress the grievances of the people. He said that government’s commitment is to extend its all policies and programmes to the doorsteps of the rural masses. The Minister directed the DDC to initiate necessary steps for the regularization of the unauthorized colony at Trait Basti. He also announced Rs.6 lakh for the construction of lanes and drains in the said basti. He also announced a Community Facility Centre for the area and directed the concerned authorities for preparation estimates at the earliest. Among other District Development Commissioner, Samba, Mr Saurabh Bhagat, President Municipal Committee Brai-Brahamna and other district officers were also present in the meeting.
