| Tributes paid to Bhagat Singh | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 27 – In connection with the celebrations of birth anniversary of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Youth Congress and J & K Jatt Youth Federation today organized a Car/Scooter/Motorcycle rally. Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture, Mr. Sham Lal Sharma flagged off the rally. The rally amid slogans ‘Bhagat Singh Amar Rahe, Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ started from Gole Market Gandhi Nagar and culminated at Jewel Chowk. More than 300 youth participated in the rally. Mr. Sham Lal Sharma paid rich tributes to Shaheed Bhagat Singh and threw light on his life. Describing Bhagat Singh a true hero of freedom struggle who laid down his life in his prime youth for the cause of the country, the Minister said that the sacrifice of this young hero along with his other colleagues like Rajguru and Sukhdev will continue to inspire every Indian for ever as nation is indebted to them. He impressed upon the participating youth to work for strengthening the nation and contribute to preserve the hard won independence and uphold the rich values and traditions of mutual brother hood and communal harmony. Saying that, today ‘our country is facing multifarious problems; security threat especially from the neighborhood, the Minister maintained that India is a strong country and is capable to tackle any kind of situation’. He asked the youth to work for strengthening the unity and integrity of the country. Endorsing the idea for construction of a memorial, statue and a Park in the name of Shaheed Bhagat Singh in Jammu city, the Minister said that the matter will be taken up with the concerned quarters and efforts would be made to get the needful done. He said that today statues of political leaders and other personalities are being installed at many places, but real heroes who sacrificed for the nation and provided us independence are ignored, this is unfortunate. He advocated due respect and proper place for these personalities in the society. President Jatt Youth Federation, S. Manjeet Singh Jatt, who led the rally also spoke on the occasion and recalled the contribution of various martyrs including Bhagat Singh for achieving the independence. He asked the youth to have inspiration from the lives of these heroes and help to make India stronger.
