| ‘Pak wants to consult Kashmiri leadership’ | | | New York: Pakistan wants to consult all sections of the Kashmiri leadership while seeking a resolution of the Kashmir issue based on "ground realities", Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said. "We want to consult them...We want to move towards a solution based on ground realities," Qureshi told reporters here after a meeting with Hurriyat chairman Mirwaiz Omar Farooq and PoK prime minister Sardar Yaqub Khan. He said his talks with the two Kashmiri leaders had focussed on the situation in the region. "I learnt the ground realities in the (Kashmir) valley from Mirwaiz," Qureshi said. Qureshi said he had invited the Mirwaiz to visit Pakistan. Other Kashmiri leaders, both in and outside the region, are also being invited, he said. The Mirwaiz, talking to reporters, claimed that it was wrong to assume that people in the Kashmir valley had given up their quest for freedom. "We are not tired. And we have not lost hope...We are struggling," he said. Qureshi also said there was no particular reason for the omission of the resolution of the Kashmir issue from President Asif Ali Zardari's speech at the UN General Assembly. "When the President talks about the Kashmir issue at an international forum, it includes the resolution, talking about Kashmir is talking about the resolution," he said. Qureshi held parleys with the Kashmiri leaders ahead of his meeting with his Indian counterpart SM Krishna, the crucial talks that Pakistan hopes will lead to the resumption of the composite dialogue process.
