| SP cautions for politicizing Afzal Guru issue | | |
JAMMU SEPT-30-Expressing their serious concern over the storm raised against the capital punishment awarded by the Supreme Court to Mohammed Afzal Guru in Parliament attack case, the Smajwadi Party leaders have warned for politicizing the judgement.
In a statement, Ram Prakash Sharma Secretary General and Sham Lal Mahasha State Secretary today regretted that apart from some misguided people of the trouble torn Kashmir Valley, leaders like Chief Ministers and others have also joined the bandwagon in appealing for grant of mercy to the accused, which stand convicted for waging war against the nation.
‘Saying that Guru who was the brain behind the militants attack on Parliament deserves no sympathy’, these leaders said and maintained that those advocating for mercy should refrain from showing any sort of sympathy for such elements and instead allow the Apex Court judgement to take place in its normal course. ‘Any recommendation by the politicians or for that matter by those who are at the helm of affairs, shall discourage the Police and Security agencies in turn, which would be detrimental for the country, the SP leaders remarked.
