| KPs describe PM’s return package incomplete | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 28- Describing the Prime Minister’s return package incomplete in all respects, Kashmiri Pandits have lashed out at Apex Committee members representing the community for not raising the issue with the government during its first meeting. In a joint meeting of various KP organizations including Soan Kashmir, All Migrant Camps Coordination Committee (AMCCC), Displaced Hindu Youth Forum (DHYF), Daughters of Soan Kashmir and Qami Ithad, the leaders of these organizations said that the package was deficient in all the resects which would not make it practically possible for a migrant to get settled at his native place straightaway after a long period of twenty years in exile. Decrying the present members of apex committee representing the community, they said that they should have raised the issue during its first meeting but unfortunately they were unable to raise this issue with government for the reasons better known to them. Accusing the government of ignoring the real representatives of community in the apex committee, they said that such problems were imminent as majority of the present members were not well acquainted with the basic problems of the community which has been living miserably from last twenty years. The non inclusion of the real representatives of community in the apex committee would hamper the return proposal as the majority of the present lot knows least about the gloom of the community members, they said. “The representatives chosen by the government could not even highlight that rupees 7.5 lakh was by no way enough for anybody to build a house and at the same time the continuation of relief for just two years after return is not practically sufficient for a migrant to get resettled after a long gap of over two decades. Stressing the need for inclusion of the representatives of migrant camps and non camps, they said that any return proposal sans their representation would never mature and government should take immediate steps in this regard. They alleged that instead of giving place to real representatives of migrants, the government preferred to pick up the persons from migrants cells of NC, Congress and some non resident Kashmiris. Terming it a conspiracy to scuttle the return proposal, the leaders said that the organizers of the Apex committee kept political consideration in view before picking up the members. Demanding amendment in the return package, they said that for rehabilitation of the community at their places of birth was only possible if proper attention is given to their problems in every respect. They said that the jobs announced by the government under return package is very small than the actual number of unemployed youth in the community and added that the youth who have crossed the age limit should be given one time compensation so that they can establish the business of their own. Those who participated in the meeting included Shadi Lal Pandita, President Soan Kashmir, Ajay Bharti, President Displaced Hindhu Youth Forum, Veer Ji Belove, Chairman AMCCC, Desh Rattan, President AMCCC, Sonika Bhat, Dan Posh Koul, Rattan Lal Koul , Sanjay Bhat and Rakesh Bhat, General Secretary DHYF.
