| J&K cop to accompany Indian Police women boxing team as coach | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sep 28 : A Jammu and Kashmir police officer would accompany the women's team as coach-cum-manager in the forthcoming Senior Women National Boxing Championship scheduled to be held from October 2 to 7 at Tata Nagar, Jharkhand.
The All India Police Sports Control Board has recently selected Inspector Satyakam Sharma of J&K Police to accompany the police women boxers as coach cum manager for the women boxing championship, a statement issued here said.
The women team comprised of eleven international boxers namely Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Awardee M C Marikom, World Champion and this year's Arjuna awardee L Sarita Devi.
Other members include K Mandakni Chanu (SSB), Meena Kumari (Haryana), Preeti Beniwal (Haryana), Kamla Bisht (Uttrakhand), Aruna Mishra (Jharkhand), Laxmi Pahadia (Jharkhand), Jenny R L (Mizzoram), N Sangita Devi (Manipur) and Reena Kanwar (Uttarkhand).
Inspector Satykama has also imparted coaching to Indian pugilists and attended Fourth World Women Boxing Championship as a technical besides representing India as coach in Ahmet-Comet Boxing Championship held at Istanbul, Turkey in April 2009.
Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Armed Dilbagh Singh appreciated Mr Satykam's appointment as coach with the Indian Police Team and said that the J&K Police has always remained committed in promoting games and boosting the sportspersons in the state.
