| Slathia inaugurates PMEGP unit of KVIB | | | Early Times JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 28 - Minister for Industries and Commerce, Mr. S. S. Slathia reiterated the coalitions Government’s resolve to work for the upliftment and improving the life standards of the people living in rural and far-flung areas of the state.
This was stated by the Minister after inaugurating a PMEGP unit of the KVIB namely Vaishno Industries, a unit for manufacturing of cement tiles and electrical poles at Bachyal, Marh, here today. This unit is being sponsored by KVIB and sanctioned by Punjab National Bank (PNB).
MLA, Marh, Mr. Sukhnandan Kumar, Director Rural Development, Jammu, Mr. J. L. Bhagat, Secretary/CEO, KVIB, Dr. A. Rashid, Manager PNB and a large number of unemployed youths and artisans were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Slathia said that Government is committed to provide improved facilities to the people especially to the rural and remote masses for uplifting their economic status. He said that central and state government has launched a number of welfare schemes for the people and asked them to come forward and avail benefits of these schemes under PMEGP.
The Minister apprised about the different schemes especially designed for the rural folk under PMEGP and KVIB. He said that government is providing attractive incentives and subsidies besides providing marketing facilities for their products with in and outside the state. He stressed upon the youth to give special attention towards the field of horticulture and floriculture.
Mr. Slathia asked the unemployed youth to venture into the private sector instead of chasing government jobs which are limited. He asked them to avail facility of these schemes and bank loans for establishing their area specific self-employment units to earn their livelihood as such loans are having affordable interest rates and contain substantial component of subsidy.
He appreciated and applauded the working of the state KVIB for rural industrialization and generation of employment in the rural areas of the state. He stressed upon the local unemployed youth to come forward and take advantage of various programmes falling under the KVIB schemes.
Earlier, Secretary KVIB has informed that KVIB has sanctioned 1544 cases in the last financial year involving an amount of Rs.1085.82 lakh as margin money. He further said that the state has surpassed the allocated target by 600 percent under PMEGP.
