Rs. 23,900 recovered from defaulters

Kathua, Sep 29: In continuous drive to protect consumers interest a team of officers of legal Metrology Department Kathua led by Assistant Controller Kathua, conducted extensive checking at Main Bazaar Kathua, Dyalachak, Hiranagar, Galak, Sabli, Chadwal, Jatwal, Kharkar, Hari, Jarmal Jahagi, Check Desa Singh and Nokian. During the course of inspection more than 93 establishments dealing with different trade like as Krayana, whole sales, bakery shops, meat, Halwaies, vegetables, gold, gas, and Atta chakis, 97 defaulters were compounded on spot. All the Challan case was compounded as well as in the office and an amount of Rs. 23,900/- were recovered as fine from the defaulters for the month of August 09 and Sept 09. The department has applied to the consumer to purchase on those standard packaged on which net weight , MRP , date of packing the complete address of the packer/ manufactures are mentioned.
