| UPA Govt. keen for faster development of J&K: Chib | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 29- Senior congress leader and Minister for Medical Education R S Chib has stressed upon the party workers to attend the proposed function being organized in connection with Gandhi Jayanti celebrations in large number at Satwari chowk on October 2. Addressing the party workers meeting at Miran Sahib today Chib said the day has a great significance and is being observed as ‘non violence’ day throughout the world. He said the birthday of late Prime Minister Lal Bhadur Shastri also falls on this day. The meeting was apprised that on this day Pradesh Congress Committee is organizing a grand function which shall be addressed by the AICC General Secretary, Incharge J&K Affairs and Union Minister Prithviraj Chavan and JKPCC President Prof. Saifuddin Soz-MP, besides other senior leaders of the party. Chib congratulated the people over the sanctioning of the two Central Universities for the state by the central government on the request of the state unit of the Congress and the state government. He thanked the Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh besides Kapil Sibal, Union Minister for Human Resources Development for this significant and bold decision in the overall interest of the state, respecting the regional sentiments of the people. He said that the Congress led government at the Centre is keen to ensure faster and equitable development of all three regions in order to usher in a prosperous state. He further said that the state coalition government headed by Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah is making all endeavors to come up to the expectations of the people. He sought the co-operation of the people in fulfilling the dreams of the great leaders and to supplement the efforts of the government to achieve the target of a peaceful and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir. PCC General Secretary Ravinder Sharma, secretary S. Rajinder Singh Ch. Manmohasn Singh-ex Mayor JMC, Ch. Abdul Gani Kohli, S. Suchet Singh, S. Soba Singh, Ganesh Dutt, Bushan Lal, Des Raj Teyagi, Sagar Anand Gill and S. Gurmeet Singh also addressed the workers.
