RBBA welcomes Kotwal’s keen interest in implementing beautification project

Jammu Sept 29- Raghunath Bazar Businessmen Association (RBBA) has welcomed the personal interest being taken by the Divisional Commissioner Jammu Pawan Kotwal and the Divisional Administration in implementing Rs.5.78 crore beautification project of historic Raghunath Bazar and making it a State of Art shopping centre in the winter capital of the state.
In a press statement issued here today, Baldev Khullar President of the Association has thanked the Divisional Commissioner , DC , Chief Engineers PWD, PHE, PDD, Commissioner JMC, General Manager BSNL Jammu circle, NBCC and ERA authorities for drawing a comprehensive plan for beautification of 164 year old bazar, which has been already declared as Heritage Bazar.
RBBA president informed that on their part the Raghunath Bazar shopkeepers have already completed over 80% of the renovation and alteration of outlook of their shops, in keeping with the project of making it a Heritage Bazar, symbolizing it with the city of temples. Shutters and rain sheds of the shops have already been painted in yellow colour, giving the design of the city of temples.
'The beautification project envisages laying of yellow coloured, decorative tiles on the footpaths, with the outlook of the shops matching with the same. Further foolproof fire extinguishing device has to be installed to meet any eventuality. It includes setting up of three points of flood water taps at different points in the bazaar. The project also includes installation of new ornamental electric poles giving beautiful look and installation of flood lights and antique lamp posts, he added.
He said the estimated cost of the project has been worked out at Rs 5.78 crores, of this the Chief Minister, has already sanctioned Rs 2 crores under the Jammu district plan. He demanded sanctioning of more funds for the purpose and executing the project in a phased manner. Khullar also demanded converting the parking lots at old city police station and Super Bazar into multi-tier lots.
Emphasizing the importance of beautifying the historic Raghunath Bazar, Kullar said the State of Art Raghunath Bazar can become a source of attraction for all the visitors to the state to visit Jammu city and stay put here for few days and it will boost the economy of the city.
