JKTDC repatriates 51 tourism employees

SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 29- Minister for Tourism and Culture, who is also Chairman of JK TDC has stressed on improving services to the tourists at its all facilitation centers, adding better services will help the corporation to increase its clientele, making it more vibrant and profitable entity.

Addressing the 39th Annual General Meeting of Share Holders of the corporation this afternoon here today, the Minister asked the functionaries to wear uniform and observe proper dress code. He impressed upon the employees to work with dedication to improve financial health of Corporation, reminding them about the benefits granted by the government.

Commissioner/Secretary Finance Mr. Sudhsnashu Panday, Secretary Tourism & Culture, Mrs Tanveer Jehan, Managing Director of JKTDC, Mr. Satish Nehru were present on the occasion.

Briefing the meeting, Mr. Nehru said that the provisional balance sheet for the year has shown a profit of Rs 46.03 lakh. He said that the accounts of the corporation for the last 14 years are in arrears, adding that the Corporation is taking up audit of the accounts from 1995-96 onwards.

The Managing Director informed the meeting that records of the corporation that were gutted in the fire incident of TRC in 2005 are being reconstructed and will be submitted to CAG and statutory auditors for verification. He made a strong case for revision of tariff rate for corporation hotels and huts under the use of Estates Department.

Mr. Nehru requested for bringing parity in catering service charges of the corporation with private hotels, adding as against catering charges of Rs 160 per person to private hoteliers, the Corporation is paid only Rs 140.

The Managing Director requested for repatriation of 51 employees back to tourism department, stating that their deputation to the corporation results in annual expenditure of Rs one crore as salary-a proposal accepted in the meeting.

Earlier, the share holders adopted balance sheet and profit and loss account for the year 1994-95.
