| DGP inaugurates 7th NKS festival | | | Early Times Report Srinagar September 29 – Director General of Police (DGP), Mr. Kuldeep Khuda inaugurated and declared open the 7th North Kashmir Sports (NKS) festival at Shurkat Ali Stadium, Baramulla today. The festival is being organized by North Kashmir Police Range, Baramulla. Speaking on this occasion, the DGP said that basic motive of organizing the festival is to strengthen police-public relations so as to bring complete peace in the region. He said that such festivals help in creating a platform for youth to showcase their talent. He hailed active participation of public in these activities adding that such activities go a long way to usher the state in new era of peace and development. He said that conducive atmosphere would lead to better future and prosperity. He said that these festivals are aimed to develop a physically and mentally strong society which would help in the development of every organ of the society. He also announced All India Tour for the participant children. Vice chairman of the festival and Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla, Mr. Latif-u-Zaman Deva in his speech said that the government has planned to construct playing fields in every block of the district for which the land is being identified. Besides, Sopore stadium would also come up at a cost of Rs. 3.50 crores out of which Rs. 50 lakhs are being incurred during current fiscal year. He also announced construction of one pavilion for Baramulla stadium. On this occasion chairman of the festival and DIG, North Kashmir, Mr. A. Q. Manhas informed that in all 2474 participants from 202 teams would participate in 194 matches and 100 athletic and 505 literary functions would be organized during the festival. On the occasion, a dare devil show, police band and cultural items in Kashmiri, Pahari, Gojri and Sheena languages were also presented.
