Security agencies need close coordination to curb militancy:DGP

Srinagar, Sep 29 : Stressing the need for close coordination between different security agencies engaged in counter insurgency operation, the Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police Kuldeep Khoda called upon the security forces to be vigilant to meet any challenge of infiltration from across the border.
Addressing a police 'durbar' at Baramulla in north Kashmir today, Mr Khoda asked the officers to maintain close coordination within their ranks and other forces to achieve better results in eradicating the militancy in the state.He advised the officers to maintain better relations with the public by organising police-public meets in their respective areas and redress their grievances.
People always cooperate with the law enforcing agencies to foil ill designs of anti national elements, he said.The police chief appreciated all ranks of Jammu and Kashmir police for their recent successful operations against the militants in various parts of north Kashmir.
He lauded the role of jawans and officer of the state police and other security forces for eliminating top militant commanders, who were active in these areas for the last many years.
Mr Khoda especially appreciated them for ensuring the safety of lives and property of the people while conducting these operations."Though we have a great challenge of militancy, but we have also to adopt people-friendly approach to build the better image of the organisation among the masses," he said.
The DGP said that vast area of north Kashmir range falls along the border areas and thus there is always apprehension of intrusion of militants from other side of the border.
He said besides normal policing, the jawans and officers of the organisation working in these areas, have to share higher responsibilities to maintain strict vigil on the activities of militants.
He issued strict instructions to all ranks to create conducive environment in their respective jurisdictions for the betterment of the people.He also held a meeting with the officers of Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipora and Handwara to review the security scenario and took stock of the law and order situation of these districts.
