9/29/2009 10:49:29 PM

Early Times Report
Jammu Sept 29
State BJP extends its full support to the demand of the ousted adhoc and contractual labour employees of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology (SKUAST) Jammu. In the meantime, BJP also has demanded for the renaming of the university to the name of the Maharajha Hari Singh.
While addressing a media conference party State President Ashok Khajuria said delegations of these ousted employees of SKUAST-J have met him and expressed their grievances for discontinuing of their adhoc appointments as extension was not granted.
BJP leader said the employees of Jammu region are discriminated on the basis of region which is against the spirit of Constitution and good government. He said the status of these employees should be considered on compassionate grounds as most of them are serving the department since 2004 and their ousting will badly affect their families being only bread earners for their families.'The SKUAST-J authorities should adopt a humanitarian approach towards them and re-instarte and regularise at the earliest, he said. He however appealed the coalition partners to go through their election manifestos to refresh their fading memories and take step to fulfil what their manifestos contain. Meantime he demanded renaming of the said University to name of Maharajha of princley state i.e. Maharjha Hari Singh who has contributed a lot for the upliftment of the farmers.
Ashok Khajuria also expressed deep concern over day to day problems faced by common masses especially due to price-hike of all items of common use. In 8 districts, 37.1 per cent of population falls under BPL category. A common man is unable to meet out expenditure of his family’s 2-time meals. Government has not formulated any policy and programme even in matters of grants and aids extended by the central government and these do not reach the needy due to lack of infrastructure and will on part of the government. The festival season is going on. The period of Navratras and Ramzan is over and we are heading towards most important festival of Diwali.
Ashok Khajuria appealed the government to formulate a committee to check the price-hike as it can not escape from the responsibility by saying that it is due to programme and policies of central government and international market. The state has to play an important role in this aspect and special incentives / relaxation in articles and items of use during this festival season should be provided to common masses through special outlets of the government so that common man can feel that government is with them in difficult days. Meanwhile, Ashok Khajuria disclosed that the party high command has nominated C.A. Sat Sharma (State Treasurer) as Election Incharge for smooth conduct of elections at various levels in the state. His name was recommended by the state president to Thaber Chand Gehlot, BJP National General Secretary & All India Election Incharge.BJP spokesperson Ramesh Arora and Treasurer Sat Sharma (CA) were also present in the press conference
