| Army dedicates furniture to school | | | Early Times Report Jammu Sept 29 Under Sadbhavana the Dah Division of the Army has constructed a Water Supply Project in village Lambibari near Manjakote, Rajouri today to provide fresh drinking water to approximately 1000 villagers. 'The project conceived under the aegis of Galuthi Brigade, will provide fresh water at the doorsteps of approximately 90 houses, said army spokesperson. Army spokesperson said that the village Lambibari comprises of approximately 90 houses scattered over a large area in district Rajouri and the locals had to fetch water from seasonal sources over a distance of 2-3 Kms causing great inconvenience to them particularly to women folk. 'The water project involved construction of three water tanks to collect water from various natural sources and laying of approximately one km of pipeline to facilitate supply of water through taps in these village houses. The scheme has thus benefited the local people immensely, he added. In yet another gesture of the Army to provide basic amenities and facilities to the remote villages under Sadbhavana, Field Regiment of Dah Artillery Brigade provided class room furniture to the Govt Girls Middle School, Langer on Sep 29. The Commander of an Artillery Brigade handed over the furniture to the school authorities at a colourful function organized by the school which was attended by a large gathering comprising of prominent civil dignitaries and officials of the area. The locals, children, teachers and others expressed their deep gratitude to the Army for the kind gesture and assured all present of their continued cooperation and support in future. |
