CBI asked to submit case diaries of sex scandal
9/30/2006 11:31:15 PM
Srinagar, Sep 30 Jammu and Kashmir High Court has directed the CBI to file the complete case dairies relating to its investigation into the sex scandal here by October 3.

A division bench of Justices Hakim Imtiyaz Hussain and Bashir Ahmed Kirmani yesterday told the CBI to submit the complete case dairies lying with it and maintained by police besides a report of the persons against whom the investigation had been completed.

The CBI earlier filed a status report before the court stating that it had completed the probe of the case and filed another chargesheet before the Srinagar Chief Judicial Magistrate.

It informed the court that chargesheets had been filed before the CJM against four persons - Absar Ahmad Dar, Aijaz Ahmad Bhat, Hilal Ahmad Shah and Syed Altaf Hussain.

The bench said the status report did not indicate what action had been initiated against other persons whose names surfaced during the investigation to which, the CBI sought more time to file a complete report.

The court on Wednesday adjourned proceedings as lawyers struck work against the death sentence on Mohammaed Afzal Guru in the Parliament attack case.

The CBI has so far arrested 18 people, including two former state ministers, an IAS officer, two police officers, a DIG of the BSF, an ex-additional advocate general, a hotel manager and the alleged kingpin of the racket.

It has filed two chargesheets in the case against 14 accused. The trial of the case has been shifted to Chandigarh by the Supreme court following an application by the arrested persons.
