Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 29: Even as the dirty money circulated for changing weapon of offence in Amandeep murder case still remains untraced, the Special Investigation Team headed by SP Mubashir Latiefi under supervision of DIG Farooq Khan has founded that suspended and arrested former SSP Jammu Manohar Singh was quite a rich man –far richer than tens of Police officers of his rank can be through the normal course of earning.
Details of investments and property statements of Manohar Singh, sources said, were saved in his personal computer while the documents recovered from his residence during raid on Monday confirmed the same. The SIT members, however, refused to speak on the matter officially.
As per the documents seized from Manohar’s residence, the suspended SSP is reportedly owner of a plush hotel at the famous tourist resort of Patnitop and a bar-cum-restaurant along Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. The hotel in Patnitop, as documents reportedly revealed, is in partnership with a former Minister and Congress leader. Sources said that Manohar also owns properties and hotels in Mecleod Ganj in Himachal Pradesh, in Chandigarh Delhi. Teams are reported to have been dispatched to these places.
None of these investments are recent in nature and apparently have no connection with the money allegedly accepted from family of the murder accused for weapon fudging.
Meanwhile, Manohar Singh today again complained of uneasiness and chest pain and wanted to be hospitalized but this request was spurned the doctors did not find this tenable. Manohar was brought to the Gandhi Nagar Hospital by a team of Police headed by SHOP Rafiq Manhas. A doctor who did the check up found him fit and therefore the suspended officer was taken back to the lockup.
Earlier, SP Mubiseer Latiefi conducted raid in the Dream Land apartments owned by Choudhary Nagar Singh, the father of the accused Jatinder Singh alias Raja in sector 1A Trikuta Nagar and lifted three employees from there for their questioning to know whereabouts of the Nago and his brother. As per sources both prepared plan for tampering of evidences and for the purpose they flew money like waters.
In a related development the SIT today produced murder accused Jatinder Singh alias Raja and Royal Singh before the Court of Forest Magistrate Jammu for remand.
Forest Magistrate Jammu, Yahaya Firdous, after gone through the case and the record produced by the SIT granted 10 days judicial remand to the accused persons.
Accused Jatinder Singh alias Raja son of Choudhary Nagar Singh was arrested on August 30, 2009. It is worthwhile to mention here that SIT produced the then SP South Mumtaz Ahmed, under suspension, before the Court of Excise Magistrate Jammu for recording the statement u/s 164-A Cr PC.
