Two Central Universities a boost to educational set up: Malik

Jammu, September 30 - Minister for Higher Education, Mr. Abdul Gani Malik has hailed the landmark decision of central government for opening two central universities in the state and stated that this will serve as a boon in boosting the educational set up. The Minister said this while interacting with student deputation which called on him at Civil Secretariat, Jammu, here today.

A deputation of Talwara migrants called on the Minister and demanded that they should be treated as par with the Kashmiri migrants in respect of rehabilitation benefits besides compensations and employment opportunities. Responding to their demands the minister assured that all necessary initiatives will be taken to provide relief to these migrants who have suffered a lot after being uprooted from their native villages.

Various other deputations from Mendhar and Reasi also apprised the Minister with their problems which include updating of various educational institutions, starting new courses and providing lectures in the upgraded Schools and colleges, better road connectivity ,transport facilities, better health care facilities and power supply .Giving a patient hearing to the people Mr Malik assured that he is aware of the problems of the people living in tough hilly terrains and timely action would be taken to ameliorate the conditions of people .

Various student delegations also met the minister and hailed the coalition Government for fulfilling its commitment for setting up of a separate Central University at Jammu. The Minister said that education sector has been accorded priority by the government and setting up of Central University is one such major step in this direction which will improve the education scenario in the state in addition to providing better employment avenues to the local population He said in the education sector the major thrust would be on strengthening infrastructure in existing institutions with sufficient staff and other facilities including sports infrastructure.

He said that education system will be revived by involving private entrepreneurship in the sector to enhance the quality of education adding that investment in educational sector would reap long term benefits in terms of better human resource. Mr Malik said that a proper monitoring and check on the private institutions will be maintained so that they can adhere to the prescribed norms and provide quality education to the students. The Minister stressed that students should also check the authenticity and credibility of the educational institutes and degrees they pursue.
