Former Minister Ch Hussain remembered on his 7th Death Anniversary.

Rajouri, Sept 30- The seventh death anniversary of Chowdhary Mohammad Hussain, Former Minister of State for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation was observed today in his native village Tralla Tehsil Budhal District Rajouri with Qura’an Khwani and Fateha Khawani. Thousands of people from all walks of life including Hindus, Muslims and Sikhs participated in the anniversary and thronged at the Mazaar of Choudhary Hussain to offer floral tributes, Fateh Khawani and Qura’an Khawani.
He was known to be a Masiha of the poor, down trodden, orphan and the general masses not only in his Constituency but in other parts of the State as well as he had selflessly served to the humanity and fought for the justice and equitable development and welfare of the people. Late veteran leader devoted his life for the upliftment of the poor, development of the backward and far-flung areas and fought for the rights of the poor and under privileged classes and undertook a number of welfare measures for the benefit and development of the general public as a whole and the people belonging to his constituency in particular.
Born on January 1, 1921 at village Panjnara of Tehsil Budhal in a Zaildar family, Ch. Mohammed Hussain got his education at Government Primary School at Peedi and later passed his middle standard education from Government High School Shopian. He passed his matriculation examination from Punjab University, Lahore, Pakistan. He further studied in Lucknow in the field of rural development. Since his childhood he had the keen interest in the social life and he always worked for the upliftment and development of the weaker sections of the society. In 1947 he worked a lot for the displaced persons of Rajouri and Poonch Districts for their resettlement after the partition. He joined Government service as Inspector Panchayats. After a brief service as Panchayat Inspector he was promoted as Block Development Officer for his outstanding and meritorious services rendered by him for the society. He remained Block Development Officer from 1957 to 1967 and served in Arnas, Budhal and Rajouri during his period as Block Development Officer
In 1967 he was elected as a member of J&K Legislative Assembly, for the first time he won with huge margin where all his opponents lost their deposits. He won this election on the ticket of Congress Party. In 1969 bi-elections he again won the election with huge margin from Darhal Constituency. He remained District President of Congress Party for District Rajouri from 1972 to 1977. He was a close associate of Indira Gandhi the then Prime Minister of India.
In 1977 he contested the election for the 3rd time from Darhal Constituency on National Conference ticket and won with a huge margin and same very year he was inducted in the council of Ministers in the J&K State headed by Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah. He remained as Minister till the death of Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah on September 7, 1982. He headed very important portfolios like Rural Development, Revenue, Co-operative and Agriculture Departments.
From 1983 to 1985 he remained chairman of J&K Apex Marketing Federation with status of a Cabinet Minister.
In the year 1987 he won election from Darhal Constituency for the 4th time with a land slide margin. In 1996 he was again elected from the same constituency as MLA for the 5th time and remained MLA till his death on September 30, 2002. During this tenure he was also became Minister in the council of Ministers headed by Dr. Farooq Abdullah where he headed the Revenue portfolios.

Contributions
During his social life he worked selflessly, tirelessly for the development of the poor, weaker sections of the society he established a Tehsil Head Quarter at Koteranka with 36 other Block Level Offices.
He upgraded and established 38 High Schools and High Secondary Schools in Darhal Budhal Constituencies.

He established Niabat at Darhal.
He established 10 Primary Health Centers in Darhal Budhal constituencies.
He get the work started on Koteranka Khwas road, Bindi Jamola road, Treru Khwas road, Smote Targain road, Thudi Kotedhara Peedi road, Kotedhara Panihad road, Darhal Kandi road, Chowdharynar Dodaj road and many more.
He got nearly 50% of Darhal Budhal constituencies electrified during his period.
He got the Water Supply Scheme for almost all the villages of Darhal Budhal Constituencies.
During his time nearly 2000 unemployed educated youth were provided jobs besides many other contributions.
He always remains a champion for the social justice and he always stood above the Cast, Politics which is always a prevailing factor in Rajouri and Poonch Districts.
He always remains upright, straight forward, secular, honest and dedicated for the welfare of the people.
He survived by his wife 3 sons and 3 daughters his elder son Shafiq Ahmed Chowdhary is a Deputy Registrar in J&K Co-operative Department his other son Showkat Ali Chowdhary is Deputy Conservator of Forests and his younger son Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali is MLA Darhal.
