| Pensioners hold massive dharna in support of their demands | | Sharma condemns Govt’s dilly dallying tactics | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 30- J&K Pensioners Association held a massive Dharna in front of the Office of the Divisional Commissioner here today in to protest against the government’s indifferent attitude towards their demands. The Association has also decided to organize a dharna in Rani Park Parade on October 21. The Association has condemned the dilly dallying tactics adopted by the State Government against 1.20 lakh pensioners. Govind Ram Sharma Convenor of the Association who led the protesting pensioners has criticized the government of its callous attitude towards the senior citizens and said that despite lapse of several months the government has not issued orders with regard to the release of the 6th pay commission arrears from January 1m 2006 onwards.. He alleged that State Government in SRO - 94 dated April 15, 2009 has deleted the provision of Additional Quantum of pension to its old pensioners after attaining the age of 80,85,90,95, 100 years and above @ 20%, 30%, 40%, 50 %, 100% respectively as has been done by the Central Government in favour of its pensioners. That the Government has not paid the arrears of 6% DA due from 01.01.2009 to 30.06.2009 in favour of the State Pensioners in spite of making various representations / memoranda to the State Government. The pensions among other things are demanding enhancement in Medical Allowance from Rs. 300 to Rs.1, 000 per month, release of arrears of 6 per cent DA and the DA due from July this year. However, the J&K Pensioners Association has hailed the decision of J&K Government for issuance of Government Order No. 216-F of 2009 dated September 24, 2009 in favour of State Pensioners removing disparity of pension between the Pre and post January 1, 2006 pensioners. N. D Sharma, Jagdish Dogra., Ram Lai Sharma, Milkha Singh Slathia, Jai Singh Chib, S. Swaran Singh, Prof. Krishan Gopal, K.L Basotra, Prof. Vakil Singh, Rattan Lai Raina, Harbhajan Singh and O.P Gupta also addressed the protesting pensioners.
