| Six JKLF actvists held during violent protests at Batmaloo, Maisuma | | | Srinagar, October 1 Violent protest continued against Afzal Guru's execution scheduled for October 20, the last Friday of the holly month of Ramadan, at Maisuma and Batmaloo in uptown Srinagar. The police bursted dozens of tear gas shells and arrested six JKLF activists at Batmaloo. Details available indicate that people in Maisuma took to streets after offering afternoon prayers and held a massive demonstration against Afzal Guru's execution, but sleuths of police stopped them from marching to Budshah Chowk . The errant mob pelted stones on police contingents who resorted to cane charge and bursted tear gas shells to disperse protestors. The violent clashes between police and protestors disrupted traffic movement in adjoining Budshah Chowk, Koker Bazar, Madina Chowk, Gaw Kadal and KMD Bus Stand areas. However no one was arrested during the clashes. Meanwhile activists of Jammu & Kashmir Liberation Front tried to take out a procession from premises of the holly shrine of Hazrat Batmaloo Sahib (RA) , but police stopped them from marching ahead. The angry JKLF activists staged a dharna during which police can charge them and took into preventive custody six party activists including Gh Rasool Dar Eidi, Sheikh Rasheed and Noor Mohd Kalwal.
