| Jammuties won’t tolerate step motherly treatment: BJP | | Unani College at Srinagar another example of discrimination with Jammu: Khajuria | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 1- Alleging that Congress leaders are bent upon to discourage, discriminate and disown the sentiments of Jammuties, the BJP State President Ashok Khajuria has said that recent announcement of Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad to set up Unani Medical College in Kashmir is yet another glaring example of discrimination with Jammu people. Addressing media persons here today Khajuria said that these leaders, who were till yesterday advocating for fair deal to all the regions of the state, have to explain as to why they are discriminating with Jammu and why priority was not given to reopen Ayurvedic College at Jammu. ‘This mindset is disgusting and a betrayal to people of Jammu. Congress is power hungry only and can compromise with PDP and at present with NC and even if Congress will feel that they have to join hands with Hurriyat Conference for the sake of power they will not leave any stone unturned. In fact, sentiments of Jammu have been ignored and BJP will not allow it to happen at any cost. Centre has to start immediately Ayurvedic Medical College at Jammu without any delay’ Khajuria maintained. BJP will fail to justify its representative character if we do not refresh the memories of public and political leaders over the discriminatory attitude adopted in the state regarding Ayurvedic College at Jammu during the regime of Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah in 1979. The well functioning Ayurvedic College was closed. It was not due to some economic crisis or any other problem but by way of revenge with the people of Jammu as Unani College was closed in Kashmir when number of doctors were found misusing its funds and were involved in criminal cases, and government was enable to run Unanii College in that hostile atmosphere, said Khajuria. Ashok Khajuria questioned as to why the sword falls on the people of Jammu again and again. Why well established and well managed Ayurvedic College was closed in Jammu he asked? The BJP Chief said that Ghulam Nabi Azad has rightly said that more than 60 per cent of the people in India are using Ayurvedic medicines but we fail to understand the mind set of Congress and Ghulam Nabi Azad that instead of reopening Ayurvedic college at Jammu, which was closed for no reason in 1979, why they have decided to start Unani College at Kashmir. His logic is self contradictory and people of Jammu should rise to the occasion and make it loud and clear that no more step motherly treatment will be tolerated with Jammu. Khajuria appealed the people of Jammu to see themselves the role of the Congress and NC leaders and ministers hailing from Jammu, who have become puppets in the hands of Kashmiri leaders for their personal benefits and have been compromising on the interests of Jammu. He also warned the coalition government to desist from endorsing any such decision which gives preferential treatment to one region and ignores the other regions of the state. The government should treat all the three regions equally in practical instead of giving hollow slogans of equality, he added.
