| State earns more from Jammu, expends more in Kashmir | | 76.33% of total state taxes collected from Jammu Province: Harshdev | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 01- National Panthers Party MLA and its Chief Spokesperson Harshdev has said that despite contributing heavily towards the state’s tax collections, Jammu region continues to be neglected in all spheres including funds allotment, employment avenues, professional and technical institutions. He said that more than three- fourth of the total tax realization in the state is collected from Jammu province. As per the written replies supplied to him during the recent session of State Assembly, certain startling facts had come to light, he added. He said that the figures of tax collection for the last two years indicated that the tax realized from Jammu Province was around 76.33% of the total taxes collected in the state with a meager 23.67% of the taxes realized from Kashmir Province. NPP leader further clarified that the total taxes realized during the last two years i.e. 2007-08 and 2008-09 on account of Toll Tax, Excise, GST/VAT, Motor Spirit Tax, Passenger Tax, Stamps, Entry Tax and Property Tax amounted to Rs. 4396.20 crores of which Rs. 3355.92 crores was realized from Jammu Province and only Rs. 1040.28 crores from Kashmir Province.
