Early Times report
‘Takes strong exception to Azad’s announcement’
Jammu, Oct 2- Reacting to recent announcement of Union Health Minister regarding opening of Unani Medical College in Kashmir Valley, Central University Andolan Samiti (CUAS) on Friday took a strong exception and said it is discrimination with Jammu.
Talking to media persons here today, CUAS Cconvenor Paviter Singh said both the state and central government has once again given preferential treatment to Kashmir Valley while ignoring Jammu regarding opening of Unani Medical Collage in Kashmir.
“Why State as well as Central announcement everything for Kashmir firstly, why not for Jammu first”, he questioned and said, “Is this not discrimination with Jammu, why it happens always with Jammu”.
He, however said, “the recent attempt of high jacking the establishment of Central University, which was conceived to be opened at Jammu, later announcing another Central University for Kashmir also speaks about both preferential treatment to Kashmir while discriminative attitude towards Jammu”.
Paviter Singh demanded Government should open immediately Ayurvedic College in Jammu which has been closed from last many years.
On the occasion, Singh informed that a meeting of members of CUAS was held today and it was decided to continue the movement here in Jammu till notification for immediate establishment of Central University in Samba was issued and Vice Chancellor office shifted to Jammu.
“It is only a statement by the government. Let us see the practical work on the ground”, the CUAS convenor said and served ultimatum to Central Government to announce notification of setting up Central University in Jammu and immediately shifting of Vice Chancellor office to Jammu on or before October 25.
He also announced that the CUAS will continue to hold meeting with all its district level committee members and members of its core committee in Jammu.
Earlier, the members announced that Paviter Singh will continue as convenor CUAS till Central University was not established in Jammu.
