| Relief for MLA , others | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 02- Sub-Judge Batote Rajesh Kumar Abrol discharged sitting MLA Ramban Ashok Kumar and eight others, from the charges of hijacking vehicle and tippers and also preventing workers from doing work at Baghliar Dam, at the stage of framing charges. After hearing senior Prosecuting Officer appearing for the state and Advocate Z D Babbar for the accused, the Sub-Judge observed that the police challan is time barred as the same has been filed after a gap of one and a half year and as such is dismissed and accused are accordingly discharged for the commission of offences 541/147 RPC and set at liberty. According to the challan Deputy General Manager JP Company of Chanderkot filed a complaint on November 16, 2002 in which it was alleged that some ‘Gonda’ elements of Dharmund and Batote along with some political leaders entered Baghliar Dam site and instigated/ prevented workers from going to the work site. They also sent a letter to site officer for changing schedule of working hours. A group of 20-25 workers led by one Gulzar Ahmed hijacked a vehicle and diverted its route to power house complex where deputy manger SS Bedi was said to have been abused and manhandled. They also prevented other workers from doing work and hijacked the tippers and took them towards Batote unauthorizedly. A case u/s 451/147/148 RPC was registered against the alleged accused and after completion of investigation challan was presented by the police on May 30, 2007. JNF
