| BJP wants Mirwaiz jailed for his Gilgit statement | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 2- Commenting on the recent statement of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq that ‘we have no objection if Gilgit- Baltistan decided to go with Pakistan’, BJP State spokesperson Ramesh Arora has said that this statement is not only shameful and condemnable but is an act against national interest and should be taken seriously as the area is part of Jammu and Kashmir. He said however, we welcome the stand taken by few Kashmir-centric leaders expressing disagreement with Mirwaiz over the issue. He said Gilgit-Baltistan is part of J&K as per Constitution of India and Jammu and Kashmir and even 24 seats are reserved in legislative assembly for PoK area. The BJP leader said that Umar Farooq has no locus over the issue and by no stretch of imagination he can ask the people of Gilgit-Baltistan to join Pakistan. He said Parliament Resolution of 1994 is very much clear over the issue that the only dispute with Pakistan is to get back the area occupied by it. Arora said that deviation from the stand by any one whosoever, he may be, will not be tolerated. Centre government as well as state government should frame a policy to stop internal insurgency started by few so called champions of Jammu and Kashmir. All separatist should be booked under law for waging war against state and that of the country. Umar Farooq should also be arrested for instigating people to join Pakistan. Proposal put-forth is totally against the United Nation Resolution and Shimla Agreement, he pointed out. Referring to the recent statement of Union Home Minister that Centre is in touch with separatist leaders, Arora said that this attitude of the Centre is not in national interest and unless and until militants and their masters relinquish their separatist tendencies and gun culture, there should be no talks with them. ‘Indian government should assert full authority and have the capacity to tackle the problem in a short span and if it wanted any type of negotiation with separatist, they should take all parties into confidence.
