SIT celebrates Gandhi Jayanti

Sarvodaya International Trust Jammu & Kashmir State celebrated Gandhi Jayanti at Maharaja Suraj Mal Institute of Education & Research Rangpur Mulanian, R S Pura. A large number of locals participated on this occasion.
The event started with floral tributes by M K Dwivedi DC Jammu who was chief Guest of the function. He was accompanied by Capt Bana Singh Param Veer Chakra Awardee as the Guest of Honour.
Besides them other prominent who were present on this occasion included Additional DC Jammu, SDM Jammu Ms Sheetal Nanda, ZEO R S Pura, Dr V K Bhutyal, S Ravinder Singh and Prof A Gangal.
Speaking on this occasion chief guest DC Jammu Manoj Dwivedi said that the philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi Ji is still relevant in modern society and exhorted the students to inculcate the moral habits especially to speak the truth which was considered the most potent weapon by the father of nation. He further appreciated the host organization to take such initiative to explore talent among students as a unique way to offer tributes to freedom fighters.
Principals, faculty members and students from various educational institutions namely Govt Girls High School Rangpur Mulanian, Govt Boys High School and a large number of locals marked their presence on this occasion.
In the onset the welcome Address was delivered by Dr Renu Nanda Managing Trustee of SITJKC which as followed by Bhajans cherished by the Father of Nation which were presented by the school children, a poem was recited by Satnam Kour of Govt Girls High School Rangpur Mulianian Main Phir Janam Loonga.
A play was presented by the School Children of Maharaja Suraj Mal titled as Anekta Mein Ekta highlighting Gandhian ideology in a very joyful manner. A greeting card making competition on Gandhi the Bapu was also organized for the children.
Six prizes were given to the best card making children. A cash award of Rs 1000 was given to the best card maker by Lt Col D K Nanda.
The participating schools were presented mementos depicting Gandhiji on Charkha.
In his address Capt Bana Singh wished the children best wishes and appreciated SITJKC initiative. The occasion concluded with the ‘National Antham’. Later refreshments was served to the gathering.
