| Police Custody of ‘Tainted’ Cops Extended by 5 Days | | SIT noose nearing Nago, brothers; decision on their bail plea deferred | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 3: It is a game of check and mate as the Special Investigation Team, headed by SP Mubashir Latiefi under supervision of DIG Farooq Khan probing Amandeep murder evidence destruction case, is apparently picking up threads of its daily thought network where the accused had left thinking last night. Even though the alleged key accused, conspirators and abettors to evidence destruction crime still remain at large but the noose is clearly tightening. Saturday’s surgical operation is a case in point. The Police had lifted a Chartered Accountant of Choudhary Nagar Singh alias Nago, the father of the murder accused Aamndeep Singh alias Raja. The Chartered Accountant, identified as Ashok Singh, managed accounts and statements of Nago. He was lifted by the SIT team from his Bahu Plaza office putting the family and Nago’s ‘invisible’ aides in panic mode. As Nago’s aides apprehended the possibility of CA making vital disclosures, they removed all files and a computer carrying Nago’s account details from CA’s store. The SIT was, perhaps, watching all this happening. Shortly after the record was removed from CA’s premises it was on the tables of SIT in a dramatic manner. This entire record was being carried in a Toyota Qualis jeep and being driven towards Janipur area. Even before the jeep could reach its intended location it came across DIG Farooq Khan, SP Jammu Basant Kumar and SDPO Swatantra Arora. The interrogation this began in the open. Driver of the vehicle Rajinder Singh son of Kaka Ram was probably caught unaware. He said that his vehicle was a cab hired at Rs 500 by one Rahul Khajuria son of Raj Kumar of Janipur. Rahul, who was sitting by the side, could not escape. On his disclosures, the SIT team raided a beauty parlour named by the style of 7UP Saloon which had basement hiding place where the accounts documents were being shifted. Unloaded files from jeep counted as many as 1200. The SIT members were now trying decode from the files and computers to find out details of any recent transactions by Nagar Singh or his companies. Meanwhile, the Chief Judicial Magistrate Jammu Y P Bourney today extended five days remand of the alleged tainted and arrested police officials including SSP Manohar Singh and Inspector Sultan Mirza. The SIT produced the accused police officials including former SSP Jammu Manohar Singh, then SHO Gandhi Nagar Jammu Sultan Mirza and Sub-Inspector Satnam Singh under tight security at the official residence of Chief Judicial Magistrate Jammu at about 5:45 PM for further police remand. Advocate DS Chouhan appearing for former SSP opposed the further police remand and custodial interrogation of his client while the Deputy Director Prosecution Onkar Singh assisted Chief Prosecuting Officer Jammu Pawan Khajuria appearing on behalf of SIT pleaded for further police remand on various ground including the controversy of weapon involved in murder case. After hearing both the side the CJM granted five days more police remand with the direction to produce the accused after completion of remand period. In another development, a local Court today deferred the decision on the bail application filed by Nagar Singh and his brothers. The second Additional Sessions Judge Jammu Vinod Chatterji Koul after hearing Senior Advocate Sunil Sethi who has been appointed by the Government to represent as special public prosecutor in the in murder case of Amandeep Singh adjourned the bail application till Tuesday.
