| Omar on reality check walk in potholed town | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 3: Rainy season came and gone, festive season is on and about to go but no smooth end is still in sight for the potholed roads of the City of Temples. Amidst a growing public outcry on dug up road network, a major health hazard and grave security risk, the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today took a reality check walk across the town. Though the city tour mostly remained limited to the areas where roads have come up again but people have some sense of gratitude that the Chief Minister was literally on the road to see what Jammu has been thrown up by unplanned and mindless digging by agencies working counter-purpose to each other. Ambphalla crossing was the only place where the Chief Minister had real taste of city roads as he reviewed many projects and ongoing construction works on Saturday evening. In Raghunath Bazaar, the Chief Minister was received warmly by local traders are happy that road is again motorable before the festive shopping season ends. The Chief Minister enquired about the Raghunath Bazaar Heritage project. He visited Rs. 120 crore Super-specialty Hospital coming up at Resham Ghar Colony. He asked the executing agency to ensure the completion of hospital by March 2010. While inspecting PSC building there, he stressed on its completion by November this year. Omar was briefed about the Rs. 60 crore fly-over proposed to be constructed from Ambphalla chowk to Shakuntla chowk. He was also informed about the status of Bahu Fort-Mubarak Mandi Cable Car Project. The Chief Minister later visited Indoor Sports Complex in M. A. Stadium and inspected improvement and upgradation of various facilities in the stadium. He visited judo hall, table tennis, skating hall, wrestling hall, boxing hall, fencing hall, billiard and snooker hall. He asked the sports authorities to formulate a project for renovation of multi- purpose hall in the stadium.
