| Three held for smuggling rice | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Oct 4: Three persons were today arrested for allegedly smuggling 12.50 quintal of rice to be supplied through ration shops in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir. Police said they intercepted a vehicle at Chadoora, 15 kms from here, and seized 25 bags of rice belonging to Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) department. Three persons were arrested in this connection. They said there have been largescale complaints that ration depots, run by CAPD department, remained dry in the wake of smuggling of goods which were then sold on a higher price to the people in the valley.
