PDP condemns imposition of undeclared curfew in Kashmir
10/1/2006 10:16:54 PM

Srinagar, Oct 1
Reacting strongly to reports of undeclared night curfew in Bandipora and some areas of Kupwara district, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a ruling coalition partner in Jammu and Kashmir, today said the government must ensure that the innocent civilians were not put to any unnecessary touble.
In a statement here, a PDP spokesman said such proclamations were not only unwarranted, but also fuel public unrest, adding to the alienation of the people.
He said such marching orders especially during the holy month of Ramzan when people frequently move out during nights for prayers, have absolutely no logic.
The spokesman said the state government must instruct the Army and the security forces to ensure that the common people were not put to any trouble while fighting militants.
