| Jora conducts surprise visit to JKTDC units | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 4: Minister for Tourism and Culture, Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora conducted a surprise visit of JKTDC units today located within the Srinagar city. Accompanied by Managing Director, Mr. Satish Nehru, GM Operations and GM Administration, Minister visited hotel Lalrukh, Hotel Heemal and Restaurants of JKTDC located at Cheshmashahi, Nunkun, Shalimar and Botanical Garden. He was informed that restaurant at Lalrukh hotel, which was non-functional for the last 18 years is being made operational shortly. On spot directions were given to refurbish, renovate and redecorate all these units so as to make them attractive and profitable. Besides, Minister directed the concerned agencies to expedite the process of re-construction of hotel Budshah which was gutted in a fire incident. Directions were also passed on for rationalization and training of human resource available with the corporation. Minister desired that every effort should be made by the management to widen its customer base. He directed Managing Director to disengage those officials who do not show satisfactory performance and allow vertical movement to those officials who show excellent performance. Annual awards for outstanding performances shall also be introduced, he added. On the occasion, Minister interacted with tourists from West Bengal and Gujarat staying at Hotel Heemal and enquired about the quality of service/food being provided by the JKTDC. Most of these tourists have expressed their satisfaction particularly with regard to quality of food being served by JKTDC.
