First Lady throws open Police Mela, praises JKP for welfare measures

Srinagar, Oct 4: The First Lady Mrs. Usha Vohra today said that organizing Police Public Mela would go a long way in generating resources for deserving police families and will help in improving better police-public relations.
Inaugurating a day-long Police-Public Mela amid enthusiasm and fans at Bakshi Stadium, here this morning, organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Police Wives Welfare Association (JKPWWA). The Mela began with lighting the traditional lamp by Mrs. Vohra, senior police officers, members of welfare association and large number of civilians were present on the occasion.
While interacting with media persons Mrs. Vohra said that Jammu and Kashmir Police has played an important role in changing the situation in the State by giving supreme sacrifices during the discharge of their professional duties in different parts of the State during past 20 years and we should always remember those who laid their lives for the national cause and it is our moral duty to take care of their families, widows, orphans and give better education to their wards.
The First Lady, described the mela a sincere efforts of Jammu and Kashmir Police Organization to reach out to the people for keeping up and promoting the people friendly image of the police. Appreciating the role of welfare organization for taking several measures for the welfare of police personnel their families, widows orphans and martyrs, she said by organizing such melas new dimensions were added by the department to its welfare schemes during last few years. She said the mela will provide opportunity to the traders and small scale artisans to show case their products and their sale increase, which would ultimately help to promote their business, she said the mela evoked overwhelming response from public and sale of good number of raffle draw tickers is indicates of public interest and the mela has emerged as one of the favorite attraction for the people waiting for the grant event.
Vohra alongwith Director General of Police Mr, Kuldeep Khoda, the Chairperson, JKPWWA, Dr. Indu Khoda and top ranking police officers and other factionaries of Welfare Association visited all stalls and evinced keen interest in the products kept in the stalls for sale by various police welfare establishments from all the three regions of the State, private concerns and some voluntarily organizations, they also interacted with the stall holders, police personnel and their families and enquired their well being.
Later, talking to media persons on the side lines of the Mela, the Director General Police, Mr. Kuldeep Khuda said that comradeship exhibited by the Jawans and officers of the Jammu and Kashmir Police Organization for their fellow personnel particularly during past several years has been commendable. He said the Mela has emerged as one of the favourite attraction for the people waiting for the grand event in both the Capital cities of Jammu and Srinagar.
Mr. Khuda said holding of such events is to generate resources and implementing various welfare schemes for the Jawans and their families, besides providing interest free loans, premium for group insurance schemes, meritorious scholarships and special rewards to the brilliant wards of the police personnel besides supporting orphans and widows of the personnel, who have made supreme sacrifices for the integrality of the country and restoring peace and bringing normalcy in the State.
On her arrival, the First Lady was received by the Chairperson JKPWWA, Dr. Indu Khoda, DGP, Mr, Kuldeep Khoda ADG (CID), Mr. K. Rejandra Kumar, senior police officers and members of the Welfare Association.

Results of Raffle Draw of fabulous prizes were announced today evening at Bakshi Stadium here in presence of massive gathering of people by the Director General of Police, Mr. Kuldeep Khoda, Chairperson, Jammu and Kashmir Police Wives Welfare Association, Dr. Indu Khoda, senior police officers and all members of Jammu and Kashmir Police Wives Welfare Association.
On the occasion, the Director General of Police, Mr. Kuldeep Koda thanked the people for their massive participation in the day-long police public mela and their cooperation in making the event a grand success. He said that people like in the past would extend their whole-hearted cooperation for success of various programmes lunched by the police to serve the public of the state.
The small children drawn from the gathering present on the occasion drew the Raffle Draw Numbers for the prizes of different categories.

One Manzoor Ahmad of Nunar Budgam who bugged 1st price Wagnor Car against Ticket no A-39164 was handed over to him in presence of public by the DGP and the Chairperson JKPWWA on sport.
