| Fifteen contestants selected for final Bhaint competition | | Rishi declared best in Hasya-Vayang contest | | UDHAMPUR, OCTOBER 1 Mr. Satya Rishi of Garhi-Udhampur was declared as champion in the final round of ‘Hasya Vayang’ contest organized during the Navratra festival at Katra, which concluded late night yesterday. Mr. Rishi, a young comedian was awarded with a cash prize of Rs.25,000 along with a trophy for his extra-exemplary performance. As many as 25 participants took part in the second consecutive Hasya Vayanga contest, out of which 12 were selected for Semi-final and Six for mega final. Similarly, second and third positions were clinched by Mr. Devinder Thakur of Udhampur and Mr. Sushil of Joytipuram. They were also awarded with cash prizes of Rs.10,000 and Rs.5,000 respectively. The Minister for Rural Development, Mr. Jugal Kishore Sharma who was the chief guest on the occasion distributed the prizes among the winners of final. Assistant Director, Tourism, Katra, Dr. Subash Sharma was the guest of honour on the occasion. President ‘Hasya Vayang Manch, Katra’, Mr. Gopal Padha, Vice-President, Mr. Rajesh Sharma, Organizing Secretary, Mr. Sanjay, President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Mr. Shiv Kumar Sharma, prominent citizens and people in thousands witnessed the programme. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister appreciated the efforts of organizers for holding this interesting and humorous event for the second successive time. He said laughing is an essential part of our daily routine life and added that it keeps us physically and heartily strong. One should try his level best to adopt the practice of laughing to keep the mind afresh and get liberation from the worries of life. He said efforts would be made to popularize the event at National level so that maximum participation of artists from all parts of the country could be ensured. Complimenting the artists in general and winners in particular for the excellent performances, the Minister hoped that they would also excel in various other such events to be organized at different parts of the country. He assured the organizers of the contest all possible help to boost this trend in future also. President of the Manch, Mr. Padha while giving detail resume of the competition extended his thanks of the Minister for encouraging the organizers by making Hasya Vayanga contest a part of the Navratra festival. In semi-final of All India Devotional Song competition being held at Yog Ashram, Katra, six contestants including Mrs. Zulekha Fareed, Mr. Paramjeet, Mr. Ajay, Mr. Sachin, Mr. Anshu and Mr. Anoop have been selected for mega final event. In all, 15 contestants would try their luck at the final competition in which renowned Bollywood personalities would judge their talent. SDM Reasi, Mr. A.K. Sahu, President, Hotel Association, Katra, Mr. Sham Lal Kesar, Chairman, All India Devotional Song Competition Committee, Katra, Mr. Rakesh Wazir, members of Navratra celebration committee and councilors were present on the occasion. Earlier, a colourful cultural procession comprising of different Jhankies was taken out from Asia chowk Katra which after passing through various bazaars of the town culminated at GHSS Katra. |
