| Encounter raging in South Kashmir | | | Early Times Report Srinagar Oct 6 After a raging encounter, the Army is conducting a massive search for 8-10 militants hiding inside the forests adjoining the Pampore area of Jammu and Kashmir which is world famous for its saffron fields. The Army, acting on a tip off raided a militant hideout in the Pampore forests on Tuesday (October 6), only to have the militants give them the slip under cover fire. In the brief exchange of fire, an Army jawan was reportedly injured. The Army, acting on a tip off that 8-10 militants were hiding in the hills adjoining the forests in Pampore, discovered and raided a hideout from where some material not including arms and ammunition was seized – however the militants managed to escape after an exchange of fire which injured one jawan. The hideout was sanitized and a massive search operation was subsequently launched by the Army and the SOG (Special Operation Group) which was still on the lookout for the militants at 3:45 this afternoon. |
