| Normalcy in Baramulla after four days of violent protests | | | Early Times Report Baramulla Oct 6 After witnessing large-scale violence that left one person dead and about 80 wounded since Friday afternoon, normalcy is back in this and Sopore town in north Kashmir. Shops and business establishments are seen open today in town and its adjoining Sopore town, where fresh violence left about two dozen wounded yesterday. Police had to fire in the air and burst teargas shells to control the ''pro-freedom'' demonstrators at Sopore after mid-day prayers. Traffic was also plying normally on all routes and work in government offices and educational institutions and banks was as usual. Baramulla town and adjoining areas witnessed protests after a 12-year-old boy, Irfan Ahmad was killed when he was hit by a teargas shell in the head on Friday afternoon. Though no organisation had given any strike call, spontaneous hartal crippled life till last evening. Meanwhile, Mohammad Ashraf Shuntoo, who has been appointed as Enquiry Officer for enquiring into the cases and circumstances which lead to the death of Irfan, has started probe into the incident. He has been directed to submit the report within 15 days.
