| Breach of Privileges | | Officers given another chance to explain conduct | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 06- A Privilege Committee meeting was held under the chairmanship of Member Legislative Council Mr. Mohammad Yousf Taing here today. The meeting was attended by Legislators included Mr. Bashir Ahmed Magry, Mr. Altaf Ahmed Wani, Mr. Showkat Hussain Ganai and Mr. Nizam-ud-Din Khatana and senior officers of Council Secretariat including Mr. Mohd. Maqbool. The Committee threadbare discussed various privilege motions including pending privileges moved by the Legislators. These included breach of privileges against Additional Deputy Commissioner, Poonch Mr. Mohammad Anwar Shah, Executive Engineer, Sub-Transmission Division, Bijbehara Mr. Mohd. Akram and Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara Mr. Showkat Ahmed Mir. The Chairman directed the senior functionaries of Council Secretariat to give another opportunities to the officers against whom complaints have been received to explain their position, in case, they fail the committee will be constraint to conclude that the complaint made by the Members is correct and they have nothing to say in their defense. Mr. Taing said that as such the committee will proceed in the matter within 10 days. The committee decided that the pending privilege motion against Ex-Director Employment J&K, Late Azad Ahmed Lone made by Mr. Murtaza Ahmed Khan on March 10, 2008 has been withdrawn. The Chairman directed the concerned to close the chapter in this regard. Mr. Taing said that this committee is a specially powered Committee with adequate powersand assured the Members that if any high ranking officers to ignoring the orders and showing any non-compliance in giving due respect to the legislators he would be punished constitutionally.
