| Kathua pensioners seek CM’s attention | | | Early Times Report Kathua, Oct 6- deputation of Pensioners Association led by its President Balal Ram Sharma today called on the Deputy Commissioner and submitted a memorandum for onward submission to the Chief Minister. The memorandum listed demands of the pensioners. The deputation alleged that despite repeated pleas by the pensioners the government has neither implemented the recommendations of the 6th pay commission for its pensioners so far nor released the arrears of Dearness Allowance The pension granted to the retirees is not an incentive but their hard earned money which hey have earned after rendering a long spell of their lives ranging between 30 to 40 years for the government, the pensioners maintained. Earlier, the pensioners held a protest rally at Shahid Bhagat Singh Park in support of their demands. Among other things they are demanding payment of equal pension in favour of pre and post January 1, 2006 retirees, release of 6th pay commission arrears in one installment due from January 1, 2006, release of arrears of 6 per cent DA with effect from January 2009 and grant of 5 per cent DA with effect from July, 2009. The pensioners are also demanding enhancement in Medical allowance from Rs. 300 to Rs.1000 per month besides reducing recovery period of commutation amount from 15 months to 12 months. The pensioners have sought Chief Minister’s personal intervention towards their demands and hoped that the government would rise to the occasion and concede the just and genuine demands of its senior citizens.
