| NSUI to hold elections for University, College units | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 6- National Students Union of India (NSUI) today announced to hold elections for University and College Units through election process among the organization members of the Institutions. The date of elections has been fixed as October 8, 2009 and five nominations have been accepted for the post of NSUI President of Jammu University Unit. Addressing media persons here today, Rashid Choudhary President NSUI state unit said that it is for the first time in the history of student organizations that the routine nomination system is being replaced with the electoral process to fulfill the aspirations and to draw serious stuff towards the student politics, who would be the future leader of the nation He revealed that open membership campaign for the process of election for NSUI unit of Jammu University has been initiated. He said elections in Jammu University would be held under the supervision of Charanjeet Singh Chiku General Secretary, Incharge and Arjun Singh Pathania General Secretary, Coordinator Jammu University. Choudhary said that in the first phase election in Jammu University and five city colleges would be held. He said that by conducting the election NSUI is going to set an example to be followed by other student organizations. He appealed to the students to participate in large numbers to make the democratic process successful. He invited the students to be a part of this golden opportunity to get a platform to work for the cause of students, society and the nation. He also congratulated the people of Jammu and Kashmir for getting the two central universities and thanked the Congress High command, MPs, Ministers, Legislators and senior leaders for the efforts they did to get the two universities He urged the Chief Minister for starting work on these Universities besides continuing his efforts for an IIM in Jammu as the youth of this region does not have any such institution.
