| Mehbooba meets PM | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 6: As a part of ongoing consultation process on kick starting renewed dialogue on Kashmir, the People Democratic Party President Mehbooba Mufti today called on Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh at New Delhi and apprised him of the present political situation in the State. According to a party spokesman, Mehbooba, in her meeting with Prime Minister, expressed her satisfaction over indication of the resumption of the Indo-Pak dialogue at highest level. She stressed on the need of taking more confidence building measures (CBMs) to take the peace process-pioneered by her party to the logical end. Reiterating her party’s stand that dialogue is the only way to solve all problems, she stressed on the need of accelerating the peace process pioneered by the PDP and initiated by the then Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. PDP chief suggested the Prime Minister that peace initiated taken by the regime headed by former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed should be taken to the logical conclusion for establishing lasting and sustainable peace in this sub-continent. She further said that peace process initiated by PDP led regime government was an irreversible process and roadmap laid by his party was the only way to establish sustainable peace in this sub-continent. She hailed resumption of dialogue between India and Pakistan and reminded that after decades of agony, it was PDP that had rekindled a ray of hope by initiating peace process. "The situation necessitate that instead of indulge into provocative utterance both the countries should continue this process of dialogue to prevent another era of turmoil in this sub-continent", she said and pointed out that during the regime of former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed successive regime at New Delhi have supported peace process. PDP chief also drew attention of the Prime Minister towards delay in issuing visas to Kashmiri youth. She said that students and bussinessmen of Kashmir have been suffering due to inordinate delay in issuing visas to them. She asked the Prime Minister to direct authorities to stop discrimination with Kashmiri students and bussinessmen as it will help in remove alienation of the people.
