| Hajj Committee to set up control room | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 07- Minister of State for Hajj and Auqaf Mr. Ajaz Ahmed Khan today reviewed the arrangements being made by the State government for the ensuing Hajj pilgrimage, particularly the conveyance and transportation facility to be provided to the pilgrims. Present in the meeting were Chairman State Hajj Committee, Mr. Ali Mohammad Shahbaz, Managing Director SRTC, Joint Transport Commissioner, Additional Secretary Transport, RTO, Kashmir and Jammu. The meeting decided that the Chairman and Executive Officer of the Hajj Committee will place requisite number of buses available at the disposal of the Hajj pilgrims and also ensure the availability of transport from Hotels to Hajj House and from Hajj House to Airport. The meeting also decided that six containers would be deployed for transporting luggage of the pilgrims at the rates of last year. The meeting decided the Hajj Committee would maintain close coordination with SRTC and provide them flight schedule well in advance. The meeting also decided that ARTOs in districts will coordinate the transport plan of pilgrims with the transport authorities under the overall monitoring of the respective Deputy Commissioners. SRTC would keep vehicles on stand by in addition to the requisite fleet in case of any eventuality, the meeting decided. The meeting also decided that the Hajj Committee would set up a control room in connection with the Hajj affairs, contactnumbers of which would be notified soon. It was also decided that Hajj Committee would approach the Home department for the availability of Home Guards and Civil-Defense volunteers for the assistance of the pilgrims.
