| Coalition ignoring Jammu in decision making : Harsh Dev | | | Early Times Report Jammu , Oct 7 Harsh Dev Singh JKNPP MLA and its Chief Spokesperson has taken strong exception to the neglect of Jammu based issues in the high level meeting held in Srinagar between the central delegation and state government team headed by the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah. JKNPP leader lambasted the highly biased approach of the state government in projecting the issues of state and deprivation of Jammu region in development and allied sectors. He pointed out that while the state government ensured the approval of Rs 356 crores for Dal conservation in addition to Rs 298 crores already sanctioned earlier, the lakes and water bodies of Jammu region including picturesque lakes of Mansaar, Surinsar, Dalsar, and Sanasar were neglected and not a single penny was announced for them in the two days meet that concluded yesterday. Likewise, he pointed out that while Rs 639 crores were approved for Moghal road to provide alternate highway for Kashmir, the internal roads of Jammu were ignored. Similarly the construction of Basantgarh-Khaned-Machedi road, as a measure to open up remote areas of Udhampur and Kathua Districts to curb militancy and promote tourism in the said areas, as assured by Union Home Minister and Defence Minister during their visit to Basantgarh two years back, were not even mentioned by the state government. He said the widening of Samba-Mansar road, Jammu-Poonch road, Mansar-Surinsar road and Bhaderwah-Chamba road also suffered due to discriminatory policies of the government and were not even discussed for funding through central assistance JKNPP chief spokesperson Harsh Dev further expressed concern over the neglect of Jammu towns in the matter of funding under UIDSSMT schemes. He said that while in the yesterday’s meet the state government projected five towns of Kashmir for funding under UIDSSMT, no left over town of Jammu region was proposed under the said scheme. He further decried the neglect of Jammu city and river Tawi beautification and conservation project when the state government demanded and got a Rs. 109 crores project approved under the head “Protection of Srinagar City”.
