| Selection of receptionists in Tourism Dept challenged | | HC keeps selection list in abeyance | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct07- In a petition challenging selection of 11 receptionists in tourism department, the Jammu and Kashmir High Court has stayed the operation of the selection list issued on September 8, 2009. Justice Virender Singh after hearing Adv Seema Shekhar issued notice to the respondents returnable within two weeks and till further orders the select lists issued by SSRB published on September 8, 2009 receptionists in tourism department (State Cadre) in open merit list shall remain in abeyance. In case the service is complete, the SSRB shall produce the entire selection record before the court for its perusal. At this stage Advocate SK Shukal, who was incidentally present in the Court, on asking accepted notice on behalf of board and assured the Court that the entire record shall be made available on the next date of hearing as the record has to come from Srinagar. He requested that the main petitioner be listed on same date. In the petition it has been submitted that the petitioner Neema Bhat applied for the post of receptionists (state cadre) in tourism department for which advertisement notice No 6 of 2005 was issued. The petitioner post-graduate in tourism, certificate in French language and also three years diploma in tourism management did not figure in the provisional select list or even in the waiting list. The petitioner submitted that as per her qualification she was figuring at least serial NO 2 if not at serial No 1 and more so she case was strong than the candidate put at serial No 1 in the open merit category JNF.
