| ‘Elders Day celebrations’ | | Helpage India organizes picnic for elders | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 7- In connection with the celebrations of ‘Elders Day, the Helpage India, Jammu unit in collaboration with Jawahar Navodaya Vidhalaya, Nud organized a picnic for the elders on the banks of picturesque Mansar Lake. A group of 20- elderly people and school children from Jammu and Jawahar Navodaya Vidhalaya, Nud participated in an interaction program held at Nud and Mansar. Gauri Saran, 105- year old man from village Dharin Mehadi in Katra was honoured by Sukhraj Kour, Principal, Jawahar Navodaya Vidhalaya, Nud in the school auditorium after a cultural program prepared for the elderly people by the school students. Some students from different schools of Jammu also presented colourful dance items before the elderly people, teachers, helpage staff and students. Later, elderly people of the banks of Mansar Lake interacted with the school children and shared their experiences too. Students of residential school (JNV, Nud) too shared their experiences as they live in boarding, away from their elders. Staff of Helpage, India stressed on the moral values which the society is lacking in the recent years. Manager, Helpage, India Sunita Santoshi and coordinator, Neeru Sharma in their address briefed the gathering about the aims and objectives of Helpage, India. He also thanked the children, teachers and parents for sparing their precious time and interacting with elderly people.
