| Pak pushing insurgents into J&K, says Antony | | | ABID SHAH New Delhi, October 7: Pakistan is still trying to push maximum number of terrorists and insurgents across the borders, mainly in Jammu and Kashmir, to destablise the region, says Union Defence Minister, AK Antony. Speaking to reporters after inaugurating a new building complex for Defence Accounts Department (DAD) here today, the Minister said that even after 26/11 terror attacks on Mumbai, no strong action was taken by Pakistan against terror camps on its soil. “There are terrorists’ camps close to those of Pakkistan Army. Pakistan is trying to push maximum number of terrorists trained in these camps to Jammu and Kashmir. This is a clear strategy by them,” said Mr Antony. He said that our Armed Forces are always on guard, adding that “I am sure they would be able to prevent infiltration to maximum possible extent.” Mr Antony said that the problem posed by Naxalites in certain parts of the country was different because it was mostly internal in nature. It should be best tacked by States and civilian forces. At most the Army could provide logistic support and training to State forces trying to meet the Naxalite challenge. A direct Armed Forces offensive against Naxalites was hardly called for, the Defence Minister said while answering a question in the wake of abduction and killing of an inspector of Jharkhand Police. Meanwhile, according to reports reaching here from Mumbai Union Home Minister Mr P Chidambaram has called media reports about the likelihood of infiltration by about 60 Taliban fighters in Jammu and Kashmir as “baseless”. These reports have been doing rounds since yesterday as a section of media quoting intelligence sources maintained that a group of Talibans defeated by Pakistan Army have been given option by authorities in Pakistan either to go to jail or Jammu and Kashmir and quite a few of them opted for the latter.
